EuroJam is a European only car show event presented by LKQ Potomac German South – Orlando.  2015 is the 3rd year of this show with 2014 featuring close to 400 show cars.
There will be trophies, prizes, giveaways, raffles, goodie bags, and so much more. Food vendors will be on site from local food trucks featuring a very large variety of food and beverages.

This years venue will be held at Orlando Festival Park on February 21st at 9am. Pre-Registering guarantees you a spot on the show field, when the field reaches capacity, the gates close.

This is the first Euro show of 2015 and we want to have a good turnout of Volvo’s. Currently there are 18 registered.

However, and apologies for the short notice, but January 16th is the pre-registration cut off.

David Maus Volkswagen on Lee Roads, will be hosting EuroJams first annual pre-meet at their facility.
The event will be held on the Friday night before the show.
David Maus will be giving facility tours, showing the latest vw models, and providing food.

The spring meet for the SW FL Chapter of VCOA was held on April 12 in conjunction with the spring meet for Central Florida Chapter of Volvo Sports America, the Florida Volvo Community and the Saab Club of Tampa Bay, thus making the day a celebration of Swedish cars.

For the location we chose to return to Philippe Park in Safety Harbor on the shoreline of Tampa Bay. We were fortunate to have perfect “Sunshine State” weather and were delighted by sunny skies and mild temperatures.

Over 55 cars and 110 people attended the event of which 17 cars belonged to VCOA members. We recruited two new members and encouraged more to renew or join VCOA.

We extend our thanks to Platinum sponsors Jose Laboy and his staff from Bahama Breeze Restaurants for providing a tasty lunch and Andy Marrero and crew of Volvo of Clearwater for sponsoring the 12 unique slate trophies (artwork designed by VCOA Member Chris Smith) and being on hand with four showroom display models.

Thanks to the generosity of additional sponsors, every attendee went home with a goody bag and door prize. Gold sponsors included Auto Clinic of Naples, Inc. (Bill & Tricia Rose), Erie VoVo (Jack Johnson), LKQ (Juliea Birkey), Volvo Club of America (Gretchen Adams) and VP Auto Parts (Johan Eurenius).

Volvo Jeopardy hosted three teams from VCOA, VSA and FVC and was won by the FVC team of Alan Johnson, Phil Cavagnaro and Andrew Harvey. Lucky VCOA Member Bill Cierebiej won the 50/50 cash raffle.

If you haven’t been to Bahama Breeze for lunch or supper and there is one in your area, you need to go. On May 18th, the Florida Volvo Community had a meet at Bahama Breeze in Tampa and there were 44 Volvo’s registered and over 90 people. Almost all models of Volvos were present with half of them being rear wheel drive. We are starting to see more of the front wheel / all wheel drive Volvo’s at each meet. The weather was great and the food was fantastic. Jose Leboy, the Bahama Breeze area manager and 164 Volvo owner, put on a spread that any meet would love to enjoy plus he kept us in water and soft drinks during the event.

The oldest Volvo there was Chris Smith with his black 1965 122. Chris does our flyers and this is the first time award for him at a Volvo meet.

Jose Laboy won the longest distance and people’s choice award with his gold 1973 164.

I think we are going to start having two people’s choice awards, one for rear wheel and one for front wheel drive. John Martin, from VSA Florida, was very involved with this meet and the prizes he brought to the meet were greatly appreciated plus John’s help in organizing the event. Tricia and Bill Rose were helping in all areas from parking to registration to MCing the event plus they drove up from Naples in two vintage Volvos. Although Jeannine and Clive Dowdell were at Carlisle, their help in keeping our website up to date and sending out reminders about the meet were very helpful. I can always count on Chris Short for registration material and coordination plus Gay Montgomery is always there helping with registration.

It helps a meet tremendously when sponsors donate prizes and without Volvo of Clearwater, Volvo of Tampa, Freeman Volvo of Tarpon Springs, Auto Clinic of Naples, Rock Auto, Dan’s Volvo Service, I Roll Motors, VP Auto Parts and Volvo Sports America, the Bahama Breeze Volvo meet would not have been the success it was. Look at the Florida VCOA website, flvcoa.org, for pictures from the event thanks to Ralph Porzio and John Martin. We also have a 50/50 drawing which Mark Capwell was the winner.
